Bromden

"Vintery, mintery, cutery, corn,
Apple seed and apple thorn;
Wire, briar, limber lock,
Three geese in a flock.
One flew east,
And one flew west,
And one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

Nine to Five

“I wouldn't mind the rat race -- if the rats would lose once in a while.”

The possessed

Another Wendigo-related image, this time representing an Algonquin tribesman who has become possessed by the spirit. During hard winters or famine, cannibalism became a very real threat for many tribes within America, and many often resorted to suicide rather than being possessed by, or becoming, this creature of legend.

Devourer of Souls

The Wendigo is a creature of legend within Algonquin folklore. It is a spirit that roamed the forests and wilds, one which represented the ultimate taboo: cannibalism. It was often described as a lip-less, emaciated, being, one that would devour the souls of those it came into contact with-- creating within them an insatiable desire for human flesh.

Tilting at Windmills

"In order to attain the impossible, one must attempt the absurd." - Cervantes.

Genus misplaced

Based upon Mayan art(and perhaps too ambitious.) A unison of the sexes which may not be entirely apparent. However, it was drawn during the quiet hour of 4am.

Odin's Horse

A friend of mine, Dave, occasionally tasks me with illustrating to a musical accompaniment of his choosing. The idea is simple enough: watch the music video and listen to the track, finding an angle therein with which I may pursue to some artistic end.

Dave is often the victim of my inkish exploits in the late hours of the evening, so he is well accustomed to my drawing style(or lack thereof,) and often finds my resistance to leave my illustrative comfort zones disagreeable. So I suppose that is how our 'collaboration,' such as it is, came into being.

Alas, I digress. This image was drawn with the visual and musical accompaniment of Radiohead's "There, There" a song which brought to mind Odin's 'Horse of the Hanged' vigil, whereby Odin bound himself to the world tree, Yggdrasil, for nine nights. It was an act which was often emulated by Norsemen as they paid tribute to the all-father and the line "Just cause you feel it, doesn't mean its there" seemed to epitomise that for me. The idea of enduring great suffering or pain for a being or God which is not tangible and impossible to validate outwith the concept of belief.

Twilit Tedium

An homage to the Vampires of(the exceptionally talented) Ben Templesmith, from the comic '30 Days of Night.'
